TravelNurseSource is working with Patterns LLC to find a qualified OB/GYN RN in Golden Valley, Arizona, 86413! Pay Information $25 to $29 per hour About The Position The pay rate is $31.00 with a BSN and $33.00 with an MSN. General Job Duties Provide nursing care to patients in all stages of pregnancy, delivery and post partum. Assist with epidural placement. Provide nursing care to GYN patients who have had surgical procedures such as hysterectomies or A&P repair. Circulate in C-Sections. Recover patient post C-Sections. Stabilize and transition newborns. Provide Level 1 nursery care for newborns who need support during transition or are premature or sick. Stabilize and prepare newborns for transfer. Required Qualifications Education: Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate of a Nursing Diploma program. BSN is preferred. Experience: 2 years of recent (within the past 6 months) in OB (antepartum assessment, L & D, C-section circulation & recovery, post-partum, GYN post-op, and newborn resuscitation & stabilization). Licenses: Current, valid Arizona RN license or compact state RN license. Certifications: Current BLS certification from American Heart Association BLS (AHA) ACLS (AHA) - prefer OB ACLS; NRP Fetal Monitoring course (prefer AWHONN) STABLE required if caring for newborns Inpatient Obstetrical Nursing Certification - preferred Lactation Nursing Certification - preferred Key Responsibilities All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision of providing the region’s best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance. The nurse provides evidence-based care so as to prevent the development of a Healthcare Acquired Condition and hospital readmissions. b. The nurse practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials. c. The nurse complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquired infections and other conditions. Assessment: The nurse collects patient health data a. Nursing assessments are completed according to hospital and unit specific policies, procedures, and standards of nursing care. b. Collect pertinent data from the patient, significant others, and health care providers. c. A comprehensive patient history and physical is completed in a timely manner and includes: biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities, educational, age specific, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Diagnosis / Care Needs: The nurse analyzes the assessment data to identify care needs. a. Nursing diagnoses / care needs are derived from the assessment data. b. Involving the patient and significant other as appropriate, the nurse formulates a plan to provide appropriate care based on identified patient needs. Implementation: The patient’s nursing care is based on identified nursing diagnoses / care needs and patient care standards, and is consistent with the therapies of other disciplines. a. Nursing care is based on identified nursing diagnoses / care needs. b. Nursing care is based on standards of patient care. c. Nursing care is prioritized based on assessment of patient’s immediate condition or needs. d. The patient and / or significant other(s) is involved in the patient’s care as appropriate. e. The nurse collaborates with the patient, family, physician and other clinical disciplines in making decisions regarding each patient’s need for nursing care. f. The nurse implements patient education and involves the patient, family and / or significant other(s) as appropriate to the age of the patient. Evaluation: The nurse evaluates the patient’s progress towards attainment of desired outcomes. a. Evaluation of the patient’s response to nursing care is evident in the ongoing assessment data. b. Nursing diagnoses / care needs are revised based on reassessment data. Documentation: Documents patient care management in clear, concise manner. a. Completes nursing admission and assessment form. All blanks completely filled in or “N/A”. b. Initiates the Nursing Care Plan with identified patient problems considering age specific variations, nursing diagnosis, expected outcomes and nursing interventions. c. Records patient’s response to hospitalization, treatments, and nursing intervention on the patient care record. d. Documents medications, treatments, and nursing intervention on appropriate chart forms. e. Provides thorough discharge instructions and sends patient home with a discharge folder as appropriate. Patient Satisfaction: Regularly updates patient “communication” boards, is skilled at providing bedside shift report, performs hourly rounds on patients, and applies AIDET as well as other evidence-based behaviors. Unit goal for Patient Satisfaction met. Special Position Information Bed Size: 2 antepartum rooms, 5 labor and delivery room, 12 post partum/GYN rooms 1 C-Section suite. Nurse to Patient Ratio: Labor 1:1 Nursery with sick newborn 1:1 Post-Partum couplet care - 6 total patients (such as 3 mothers and 3 babies or 2 mothers, 2 babies and 2 GYN patients etc. Equipment: OBIX and Meditech are used for documentation and fetal monitoring. Newborn warmers include GE Giraffe and Panda as well as the Drager. Drager monitors are used in the recovery room. Alaris IV pumps and syringe pumps are used in all the units including the nursery. Medela Breast Pumps are used in Post Partum. Ameritus feeding pump for newborns. Welch-Allen vitals carts. Shifts: 12 hour varied shifts 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and/or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Every other weekend is required. Call is not required, but we sometimes ask nurses to take on-call if volumes are down or to sign up for call in the event that volumes flex up. Dress Code: Hospital-provided surgical scrubs. Training/Orientation: We have AWHONN Fetal Monitoring, STABLE and NRP instructors on staff. We allow two 12 hours shifts to orient agency RNs. Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills. Able to manage technical business equipment i.e. phone, fax, computer etc. Able to assist with the movement of an adult patient weighing up to 300 lbs. Able to care for patients with infectious diseases.
